MD: Settings Page - Logistics
Table of Contents
On this settings page you will be able to:
- Define the logistic methods that will be available for your customers to select in the Portal in order to return their products to the store, along with their configuration: cost, availability, return instructions, etc.
- Set up the warehouse address
- Customise the return instructions

Return methods
This section will allow you to define all the different logistic methods that customers will be available to choose from when selecting the way they want to return their products to the store.

For each method a summary of its most important settings will be shown:
- Name and type
- Cost
- Availability: Transaction types and locations.
- Carbon offset option enabled
You can create as many as needed depending on your needs and they will shown to your customers in your portal based on the order you define on this page (they can be reordered by simply dragging and dropping them into the desired position using the control on the left.) and their availability as defined in their individual settings.
To add a new method, simply click on the “Add new method” action at the bottom or the page, or duplicate an existing one using its actions menu.
Return method configuration
Each Return method will have the following settings:
Return method Type
You will be able to choose between one of the following 4 options:
- Home pickup: The products will be collected directly at the customer's address
- Ship it yourself: The customer will be responsible for returning the products to the specified address using their preferred shipping method of choice.
- Drop-off point: The customer will have to take the products to a designated drop-off point, from where they will be shipped back to the store.
- Store drop-off: The customer will have to personally deliver the products to one of the retail locations of the store.
Custom name
If this option is enabled, you can choose a specific name for the return method that will be shown to customers on the Return Portal. If disabled, the system will use the type as the default display name for the method.
In cases where multiple methods of the same type are available under similar conditions, we recommend assigning a custom name to distinguish them easily.
A name for each supported language must be provided.
Availability
Methods can be configured to only be available for selection based on the following:
- Request type: Based on whether the customer is asking to return products, exchange them, or mixing returns and exchanges in the same request
- Location: Based on where the customer wants to return the products from.
- Net cost: Whether the method will be available for orders with a net cost greater or smaller than X amount.
This way different equivalent return methods can be created that account for this differences in order to present different pricing, return instructions, etc.
Cost
The fee that the customer will have to pay in order to select that return method can be defined in two ways:
Flat fee
A fixed fee, in the selected currency.
It is possible to select a different fee for the first and subsequent transactions associated to each order.
This way the store can offer free or cheaper returns for those that only return products once, and avoid malicious or inconsiderate customers from exploiting the policy by splitting their returns and exchanges into multiple, separate requests.
Per returned product
A variable fee, in the selected currency, that will be calculated based on the number of products that will be returned.
It will be calculated form a base, fixed fee, and an extra amount that will be added per each additional returned item (counted from the number of products included in the base cost)
Just as it happens with the flat fee, it is possible to select a different fee for the first and subsequent transactions associated to each order.
Carbon offset
If this option is enabled, customers will be presented with the option to donate an extra 1€/£1 in order to offset the carbon emissions associated with their return.
Logistics
Depending on the type of return method different extra settings will be available:
Home Pickup
You will be able to allow customers to select a pickup date and time in the Return Portal.
Ship it yourself
You will be able to enter the details of the address customers will be responsible for returning the products to using their preferred shipping method of choice.
Drop-off point
You will be able to enter the display name of the logistics service (ie: UPS, DHL…) as you want it to be shown to customers in communications, etc. and provide a URL where they will be able to find a list of available drop-off locations for them to choose from to return their products to.
Store drop-off
You will be able to provide a URL where customers will be able to find a list of available retail locations for them to choose from to return their products to.
Return instructions
Here you will be able to define the return instructions that will be emailed to customers once their request is created.
You can add as many steps as desired, and you will have to provide translations for each of the languages supported in your return portal.
